When the landowner of Hill Farm retired from the pick-your-own blueberry business, she offered 100% of the crop to Willing Hands, which is now harvested by our volunteer gleaning teams. To keep the bushes productive, our volunteers have been learning a fun skill: pruning! Thanks to this crew for their help last week.
Last year, our gleaning volunteers harvested over 2,030 cups of blueberries. (Some say a cup of fresh berries is a serving, some say a half cup, but we know it would be pretty hard to eat just a half cup of these delicious fruits!)
